google is rude

Recently I decided to try to monetize my YouTube channel. While I’m working on building it up, my YouTube channel is still very small, but something is better than nothing, right?

For some reason, my AdSense account (which is necessary to monetize YouTube) had been disapproved, and there was an email Google had sent in which you could get more information. That’s probably the one email in a million that I deleted rather than archiving. So I headed to the forum for help.

google is rude

Maybe I’m naive, but I couldn’t believe I the response I got. I thought it was pretty rude, so I reported the contributor.

google-rude-2

The response I got when I reported the exchange and attached screenshots.

Apparently Google considers this sort of talk OK. As I said in one of the comments, I have no problem with the substance of the comments (although I don’t agree, and the time between my question and their answer did not allow for any sort of thorough look at this site), but the tone was insulting and unnecessary.

Other than being much more fun for the Google contributors, what, exactly, did this accomplish? If it weren’t Google, there is no way I’d do business with these folks. Because it’s Google, I’m stuck and they know it.

Because they know I’m stuck, they have no incentive to treat me well or even show basic civility.

As much as I want my business to grow and increase, I hope I never get big enough that I treat others this way. As much success as I wish you, I hope you don’t either.
